I had a wonderful time it was just what i needed have booked two holidays there for next year. The staff were lovely and very helpful . The food was outstanding, plenty of choice. I had the accessible room with wetroom. Plenty of room for a wheelchair to get around. There was trips out every day( you pay extra for them) and entertainment at night. Fantastic views from the conservatory of the river 7.

I highly recommend this hotel if you are disabled or have limited mobility. The rooms are clean and the staff are friendly and the food is delicious.
Walkability: The hotel is in Ross on Wye a small town which does have some small hills and narrow pavements, but the hotel does hire mobility equipment.

Our group recently stayed at this hotel for the 4th time! On this occasion we booked the whole hotel which was wonderful and gave us more flexibility.
Each year we review our visit and consider finding somewhere different for the following year but to be honest, nothing could match Merton House Hotel.
The hotel is comfortable and suitable for our member's physical health and mobility needs; the staff are absolutely wonderful and do everything they can to ensure a good time and the food is delicious and plentiful.
We always find different places to visit during our stays, supported magnificently by the excellent minibus drivers.
It would be unfair to name individuals as every member of the team is fantastic but, it is through the leadership of the Manager, Kelly, that this hotel provides everyone the chance to have a holiday to treasure.
Thank you. See you next year!

Absolutely fantastic staff really helpful and friendly food is how it should be fresh home made and everything is just delicious, hotel inside is tired looking and could do with a major update after all we are in the 20th century rooms are very pre dated.. ( l really didn’t agree with having a small child of 2 years of age accommodated at the hotel as l thought it was a rest-bite accommodation for the elderly and disabled etc, so l cut my holiday short and came home ( couldn’t stand the high pitched scream(s) from the child and most of all through meal times at the table or through the entertainment in the evening ☹️🤨😵💫😮💨🙈😢
Rooms: Rooms need a major update so pre dated
Nearby activities: The town is literally on the doorstep, but it’s all built on steep hills, not good for people in a wheelchair or Walker or frame or walking stick very tiring could be better lowered curbs quite awkward in places to get round good selection of shops pubs cafe etc
Walkability: Very good walk abilities around the inside and outside of the hotel
Food & drinks: Home from home like the good old days cooking made from scratch, that’s how food should still be made even today
Noteworthy details: I think it was very wrong of the management to take in a child REGARDLESS THE ANSWER SHOULD OF BEEN NO people just don’t want it, it’s not that sort of hotel for children wasn’t even asked by management if anyone minded the child being there. Came home mentally physically drained and doubled my depression l suffer so no holiday at all 😰

I have just returned after a weeks stay with a friend at Merton House Holiday Hotel. I cannot express how much we enjoyed ourselves. The staff were friendly and so helpful. The food was excellent, comfy beds and our room with a view across the river Wye was perfect. The garden had plenty of seats and the trips to nearby beauty spots a lovely bonus. Walking distance to Ross-on-Wye centre completed an amazing experience. Thank you for that extra personal touch and a very restful stay.

Super specialist hotel for elderly, disabled & frail. Very caring staff & suitably equipped rooms plus good restaurant for residents to relax in.
Good gardens to sit in & explore. Hotel is close to Ross on Wye town centre for shops, cafes & culture sites for visits. Hotel will arrange transport for guests coming by train to Hereford station - no station now on this town.

Views over garden of the river. Can cater for elderly and disabled people.

I am one of the musicians who play regularly at Merton House.
I can tell from chatting to the guests what a lovely place it is to have a break in, as they are so complimentary about the staff, the food and the environment.
The fact that there are so many returning regulars is testament to how this hotel is thought of.
