Nice hotel restaurant with good food, altho' duck was overcooked. A bit surprised when booking that was asked to come early as, quote,'we are very busy'. It wasn't! Good, unhurried service tho'.

We absolutely loved the Kings Head and stayed for two nights in Jan '24. We'd initially planned to stay for 1 night but upon seeing the venue, our room and the town of Ross, we decided to extend for 2 nights as it was just what we were looking for. Lovely olde world charm and quaintness combined with excellent service from all the staff we met and high standards of cleanliness and comfort made this a winner for us. We stayed in a premium room (12) which faced onto the high street but we barely noticed any noise and enjoyed the views. We ate there both nights (both excellent) and also made it to enjoy the inclusive full English on one morning (we're not usually breakfast people) and it was all delicious. We were also pleased to be able to stay with our little dog and not asked to pay any (irksome) "extra cleaning" fee which you see sometimes see but despite this, not a trace of animal hair anywhere in our spotless room so also a big shout out to the housekeeping team. The location in Ross is excellent both for exploring the town and the wider area and we felt our car was safe in the free and private, secure car park behind the venue, where we could see cctv is always monitoring the car park. In summary, a very well presented and run venue for a short break in the area and one we shall certainly revisit in the summer.

Lovely old quirky hotel right in the middle of Ross on Wye. its an old building so the floors sloped, the room shapes were wonky, the stairs were twisty but this all added to its charm. It was a cold weekend but you would never had known …

Right in the middle of town with easy access to the local pubs, restaurants and shops.
The room we had is quite quirky at the top floor, it's clean and the bed is so comfy. Nice staff who are friendly

Wow! I'll start at the beginning! Turning in to the car park was fun! I only wished I had more of an audience for my fantastic spatial awareness (I usually close my eyes in situations like that but thought I'd keep them open, as hubbie was …

Firstly I would like to mention the lovely and friendly staff here. We were made to feel very welcome. We didn't stay at the hotel but we used the restaurant which was absolutely superb. The food was very good quality and well presented. Really enjoyed our visit.

We arrived in good time to park the car behind excellent access to the hotel. The room was as you would expect in an old coaching hotel, cosy, clean and comfortable. The bar was busy and buzzing. We ate at the restaurant and the food was …

Just come back from an amazing meal at the Kings Head tonight. We were a party of 4 and had 2 ducks with a side of garlic roast new potatoes, 1 steak and a burger. I had the duck which was out of this world as were all the other dishes. …

Lovely place to stay. Very friendly staff. Lovely pub with good ale options, played nice indie music at a low volumes, great. The building dates back to the 12th century and there's a massive well visible through a glass in the bar. The breakfast was delicious. The room was a bit warm but they provided a fan so that wasn't an issue. Would definitely come back.
