Can’t recommend Helen and her team highly enough. My daughter’s wedding dress needed huge alterations which were completed to an amazing standard and the personal service we both received couldn’t have been better.

I had a very urgent job that needed doing, the staff at essential sewing services pulled out all the stops and had the job done within the hour. I can't thankyou enough for doing this. Excellent service, highly recommend.

Very good service, they do a fitting service if you want jeans etc altered.

They did fix my sewing machine, but cost £85, and took over two months.

Enquired about cutting and finishing edges for liners for toddler’s underwear. Experience as follows: enter shop, two people talking, they finish the conversation and I wait. One leaves to go in the room adjoining. I ask with the one left behind, she thinks it will be okay but goes to ask the one who went into the other room. They have a conversation in an open doorway out of sight that I can hear. The one I asked tells the details incorrectly, I repeat what I had asked. The one who first left for the other room acts like I’ve asked to borrow her car for a stunt. She comes back into the main shop and takes the material I brought to unnecessarily handle it. Tells a story about some material that she thinks was similar and how she didn’t like working with it. She says no. I ask if they have sewing machines to rent or know anyone who I can rent one from. She suggests I buy a machine. Unhelpful with a strange attitude. I then find a shop that isn’t ridiculous and they did it for me with no fuss. Turns out the diagnosis of the material was completely inaccurate and it wasn’t hard to work with. 2 stars not 1 because the person who first spoke to me was at least friendly enough if not redundant.

Used Essential Sewing to join two pairs of curtains and the finished work was first class. The pattern was matched perfectly and the lining finished beautifully. Brilliant craftsmanship. Thank you so much, totally exceeded our expectations and at a fair price.

Paul Connell Ross-on-Wye This is my 1862 Union Frock coat given to me by a friend. The sleeves were too long and the collar too small. Now it fits exactly. This is not the first time they have done work for me and they provide a great service at a reasonable price.

My partner & I have had some curtains made for our new home earlier this year, Helen and the team at Essential Sewing Services have been brilliant! she came out and measured all the designated windows and within a week we received a detailed quote with lots of options - Helen's attention to detail was outstanding and Essential Sewing Services even fitted the curtains themselves. We are OVER THE MOON with the service & our curtains and will be using ESS all our sewing needs!

Really great place. I needed some fabric to renovate some dining chair cushions. They had a nice selection and the price was great. Really friendly staff. The chairs look great by the way too! Thank you :o) X

Had some alterations done on a dress but dress still didn't fit after spending £25 & was made tighter in the wrong place. Similar experience with bridesmaid dress alterations. Wouldn't use again
